Call of Duty 6 Announced
"Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith today confirmed that Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward, which most recently handled Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will return to the franchise next year with Call of Duty 6.
"In 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, Call of Duty 6," Griffith stated at today's Activision Blizzard Analyst Day. Earlier this year, the CEO revealed that a new Call of Duty game would arrive in 2009, but did not offer any other details at the time.
Confusingly, Griffith's presentation today seemed to date CoD 6 for 2010 as well. After discussing Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War, which he referred to as Call of Duty 5, the CEO said that "for calendar year 2010, Infinity Ward is already at work on the next installment in the franchise."
Following publisher Activision's "leapfrog strategy" of alternating developers, Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 6 will follow up Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War, which launches on November 5 for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS2, and Wii. Treyarch had also developed Call of Duty 3 as a part of that strategy."
AllOutWar wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and hope everyone has a great day! Look forward to seeing you back ingame soon. Safe trip to anyone taveling!
Just a heads-up, the Xbox 360 and PC Multiplayer BETA's are coming to a close. Both BETA's are officially closing Monday morning, 11/10/08. You will not be able to log in on either the Xbox 360 or the PC starting Monday morning. This is in preparation for the retail release that will follow later that evening at midnight!
It's been a great few weeks, and we've collected an invaluable amount of data as a result of both BETA's. As you may have noticed, there was a Title Update released for the Xbox 360 BETA, demonstrating just a small subset of the fixes we've implemented for the retail game. As for the PC, we have a patch we're preparing already to address some of the more important issues discovered with your BETA.
For that, I extend our sincerest thanks to the community for all the great feedback, and truly hope you enjoyed the BETA. Expect some more exciting news over the weekend, and keep an eye out as we prepare to unveil a very exciting new site feature to go live with the game!
So be sure to head out to the closest Gamestop retail location providing a midnight opening for Call of Duty: World at War Monday night and get your full game, or find it in shelves in North America Tuesday, and across Europe Nov. 14!
After you register, head over to www.callofduty.com/beta and up top where it says Exiting Activision Members etc.. Login and Confirm your profile information.
CoD:WW Friends and Family Xbox 360 Multiplayer BETA is LIVE!
We've started testing our Xbox 360 Multiplayer BETA with friends and family. Things are going very well, which means your shot at playing the BETA is right around the corner! In the coming days, we'll start bringing in more players from around the world to stress test our system. Just a hint, I'd keep my eye on CallOfDuty.com over the next few days ;-). As CallOfDuty.com members, you'll be some of the first gamers we'll be contacting for your help. There'll be multiple waves of Xbox 360 Tokens being sent out, so don't lose hope if you don't get a token early on!
Just as a reminder, here's how we're selecting Xbox 360 BETA participants from the CallOfDuty.com community:
1. VIP members (former CharlieOscarDelta users / early sign-up's) - If you are a former CharlieOscarDelta member, make sure you transfer your account!
2. Community members based on when they created their accounts
And of course, if you pre-order a copy of CoD: WW at GameStop (and are in the U.S.) you have another chance to get your spot in the Xbox 360 MP BETA, so not to worry.
PC players, your BETA is coming up! Stay tuned and keep checking CallOfDuty.com for updates coming shortly.
UPDATE: Sorry for the confusion, what we want you to know is if you've already pre-ordered CoD: WW at GameStop (and are in the U.S.), you WILL get a 360 Multiplayer Beta code (they're being sent out now). If you haven't pre-ordered yet, you still can pre-order to guarantee your Beta code through GameStop
